About me

Hey! I’m Jia Wei. People call me by J or JW too and I like it more haha! I love writing reviews and interpretations on movies, really hope they’ll will be enjoyable and insightful to the casual movie-goer and the critic. Please feel free to share your views and opinions, I want to hear what YOU have to say πŸ™‚

If you really like what I’m writing, please consider subscribing via email so that you can keep abreast of my latest posts.

I try to get in touch with what’s real as much as I can. Too often people, especially where I’m from, lose touch with that. I hold on to my passions and live life the way I want to live; And not by the conventions of society. I love literature, blogging, writing, movies and tennis.

One wish that I have is that someday I’ll be able to make an indie film. It’s not something grand or anything. But then again, it’s the simple things in life that really matter.

Hope you enjoy my blog!

Hey, nice to read your blog and I’m following you! It seems we are blogging about the same topic. If you have any tips on how I can further my blog that’d be greatly appreciated!

    1. Thanks for the follow! I’ve just followed you as well and your posts are really interesting and awesome πŸ™‚
Haha this is one of the few times anyone has asked me for tips so I hope I can help πŸ™‚ For me, I try to use tags that are more general and less specific (preferably some that are popular or trending tags on wordpress) to increase exposure. As we do movie reviews, tags like film, thoughts, writing, fiction, mental health, religion, race, love etc can be relevant depending on the type of post and movie review.

Stick to fifteen tags/categories so what I usually do is to have 1 category and 14 tags. WordPress won’t feature your posts as well in the tags if this combined number exceeds 15.

When I started blogging, I tried to follow as many film bloggers as well haha so that they would get to see your blog and hopefully follow back. Liking and commenting also helps no doubt. Follow other bloggers in the film community on twitter as well, and they’ll likely follow back. There’s tons of interesting bloggers on various blogging sites who are also on twitter and do various reviews, blog-collabs, podcasts on a range of topics in film so I think you’ll find many of them worth following. I just followed you on Twitter and I’m pretty lowkey on twitter but I have around 300-400 mutual followers so you can take a browse through my list and follow away!

Oh I would also suggest perhaps cutting the number of words on posts in general is likely to be more attractive to read. I don’t really follow this anyway because I believe if you have to write more words to fully express some idea, then I’ll just write it anyway. But if you can, try to keep it shorter πŸ™‚
And lastly I guess blogging more often and commenting on other bloggers’ posts is the best way to further your blog. Hope you found my tips useful HAHA. I’m sure you’ll be able to reach a bigger audience in no time. I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts and reviews πŸ˜„

      1. Thanks for taking the time to reply! Yeah, I assumed about the word count as well. but I’m a philosophy major so it just comes natural to me to type as many words as I can fit. It would definitely be better to narrow it down. I’ll keep that in mind in my next posts. Thanks for the follow btw, greatly appreciated.
